Our Year 9 students with four other schools from Sefton and Knowsley participated in a Business Conference at Savio Salesian College .There were Business Mentors representing a variety of careers who are supporting the students in school to find out more about their own skills and preparation for working life. The students were in attendance for two workshops about careers in the NHS and how careers are developing /evolving in the Merseyside region. It is predicted that by the time this generation reaches the age of thirty eight they will have had up to fourteen different jobs; so they need to be prepared and equipped with a range of transferrable employability skills for their futures.
Then Anthea Harris and her colleague from Radio City launched their ‘Cash for Kids Challenge’ so that the students can plan , organise and run a project that enables them to develop their employability skills in a practical context whilst making a contributions to others in society. So watch this space for future news on the progress our students make with this challenge over the summer term!
The event was an outstanding success and we appreciate the efforts of Sefton EBP for co-ordinating the outside speakers but special mention must go to our fabulous Year 8 ambassadors who once again provided a warm welcome and refreshments to our guests.
