We Are A Healthy Eating College!

Savio Salesian College uses a biometric payment system. This requires an image to be taken of your child’s thumb so that food can be purchased against their account.

Students can top up their account by using either of the two “reloaders” that are located in the dining room or the main school building. These machines will accept both notes and coins. Alternatively, parents can send a cheque into the school office and staff can credit the account accordingly.

Students on free school means automatically have their accounts updated on a daily basis. In these cases, it is important that parents ensure that their entitlement is up to date and if there are any issues, they should contact the Local Authority.

Your child may be entitled to free school meals if you receive any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Job seekers Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit (provided your income does not exceed a stated amount and you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit)
  • Guaranteed Pension Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act

As part of the computer system, purchases are automatically recorded. If parents wish to see a record of what their children are buying for lunch, please contact the school office and this can be arranged.

Please note that chocolate, fizzy drinks or hi-performance energising drinks are not allowed in school due to the Government guidelines for healthy eating.
