Memorial Garden Project
Since returning from lockdown in March a small group of Year 10 students have been participating in a social action project in conjunction with
Everton in the Community and their enthusiastic dedicated staff.
Early in 2021 we lost our former mentor and counsellor Paul Kinsella who had served the students at Savio for many years. A number of former pupils led by Anton Powell collected money to donate in memory of Paul. In the spirit of Paul’s approach to life we decided to create a special area of the school for counselling and mentoring.
The garden has taken shape and we are really pleased with the progress so far. In September, the next group of students will start painting and planting the fencing so this is a project that is equipping our students with new opportunities and skills.
We are indebted to
Laing O'Rourke Recruitment who stepped in to help finish the project by working on the infra structure. They donated their staff time and resources. Further discount on materials was willingly provided by
Selco Builders Warehouse which helped with our endeavours.
This remembrance garden will sustain the memory of Hazel Fort, volunteer chaplain, and Paul Kinsella, former mentor, for future Savio Salesian College students.
